The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, supports the Southern Governors' decision on President Muhammedu Buhari’s successor to emerge from the South.

Zulum disclosed that he is of the view that the presidency should go to the south in the year 2023 because the unity of our country is very important.

He also noted that he was not nursing any ambition to become the vice president of the country.

Governor Zulum made this known during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, noting that his stance was not tied to any political ambition.

“I have said it times without number that I, Professor Babagana Zulum, am of the view that the presidency should go to the south in the year 2023 because the unity of our country is very important.

“And I have said it before, I am not interested in becoming the vice president of the country, nor the president of the nation but I want to say the right thing.”

On Monday, 17 governors under the umbrella of Southern Governors’ Forum, met behind closed doors in Lagos, where they deliberated on issues affecting the region.

Shortly after the meeting, a communiqué read by the Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu revealed that the forum is committed to politics of fairness and equity.
