The founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has been shot in Abuja.

It was gathered that he sustained gunshots injuries and has been rushed to hospital for medical treatment

Thedevelopment was confirmed by a right lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, who wrote on Twitter that 

“the criminal officer is said to be an ACP. I watched Sowore being shot live on Facebook.”

“This is what Nigeria has been turned into under Buhari. They’ve declared war on the Civic Space.”

 

His party the African Action Congress (AAC) also confirmed the incident on Monday morning.

The party tweeted:

“Our national chairman Omoyele Sowore shot by police now in a protest against insecurity in Abuja and he is presently being taken to the hospital. Nothing must happen to Sowore!”

Rights activist Deji Adeyanju stated that he was minutes away from the scene when he received a phone call about the incident. He “I was just 3mins away from Unity Fountain when I got the call that Sowore has been shot by the police. This is the Nigeria some people want others to believe in by force.”
