Minister of Transportation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi has stunned Nigerians with his foray into gospel music, signaling what seems like the start of a new career for him.

In a viral video released at the weekend in commemoration of his 56th birthday, which was on May 27, Amaechi was seen with his wife Judith and two unknown backup singers, singing a gospel song.

They were aided by a live band singing the responsorial Psalm in the four minutes video, which was shot in the minister’s living room in Abuja and produced by Obliblo Music.

The surprise gospel video has elicited mixed reactions among Nigerians, as they wonder if the former two-term Rivers State governor has made up his mind to retire from politics and start a career in gospel music.

Reacting to the video, a Twitter user, Oyinmiebi Akpos, who expressed surprise at the development said:

“New hustle, Amaechi leaving politics”?

A Facebook user, Patience Okilo, lauded the intention of the Minister to praise God in his own way but advised him to work on his voice if he intends to go commercial.

Another Facebook user, Nikade George; said the video was a comic relief, considering the current situation in the country but urged the Minister to be “flexible in his next outing by shaking his body and make some dance moves”.
